A Professional Cleaner’s Bathroom Routine: What We Clean First (and What We Never Skip)

Honestly, bathrooms are one of the trickiest rooms to keep clean. Between soap scum, hard water spots, and mysterious toothpaste blobs, it can feel like a never-ending battle. But with the right approach, cleaning your bathroom doesn’t have to be overwhelming, or toxic.

At Noble Spruce Cleaning, we’ve developed a system that’s efficient, effective, and gentle on both your home and the planet. Here’s a peek into our professional bathroom cleaning routine, including what we clean first, what we never skip, and tips to make your own cleaning feel less stressful and more satisfying.

Step 1: Start at the Top (Dust Before You Scrub)

We always start by dusting high surfaces to avoid double work later. Dust falls, and we’d rather not clean the same area twice!

On our routine cleans, we always dust:

  • Light fixtures and vents

  • Mirror tops and cabinet edges

  • Baseboards

We use our swiffer duster and microfiber cloths for a gentle, thorough dust that’s easy on surfaces and great for air quality.

Step 2: Tackle the Shower or Tub First

Next, we move straight to the shower or tub. Why? Because this is the messiest and most time-consuming area, and while it’s soaking, we can sanitize other items.

We spray down the entire tub or shower with a plant-based cleaner (like Sal Suds diluted in water) and let it sit. Then, we scrub with:

  • A non-scratch scrub brush or sponge

  • Baking soda for tough stains or grout buildup

While the cleaner works its magic, we take this time to sanitize the items that were inside the shower/tub, as well as any items on your bathroom counters, think soap dispensers, toothbrush holders, and trays. Once everything is clean and dry, we return these items to the counter and move on.

Step 3: Sink and Countertops

Now that everything has been sanitized and reset, we clean the sink, faucet handles, and countertops. We make sure to wipe under and around everything and leave the space feeling calm, and fresh. We also thoughtfully arrange any miscellaneous items on the counter to create a tidy, organized look.

Step 4: Mirrors and Glass

Next up, mirrors and any glass surfaces. We use our homemade glass cleaner, just vinegar and water, for a streak-free shine without synthetic fragrance. Pro tip: use a flat weave microfiber cloth for crystal-clear results.

Step 5: Toilet (Last, Always)

We save the toilet for last to prevent cross-contamination. Our go-to? Seventh Generation Toilet Bowl Cleaner. This cleaner is plant-based, effective, and free from chlorine or synthetic fragrance.

We clean:

  • Inside the bowl with your toilet brush (we don’t use our own to avoid cross-contamination)

  • The seat, lid, base, and surrounding area

We never skip this step, every detail matters here.

Step 6: Floors for the Final Touch

Once everything else is clean, we vacuum and mop the floor using eco-friendly floor cleaner and washable mop pads. Corners, baseboards, and behind the toilet get special attention.

A Clean Bathroom = Peace of Mind

With a thoughtful routine and safe products, cleaning your bathroom becomes less of a chore and more of a reset. At Noble Spruce Cleaning, we’re here to help create a space that feels fresh, calm, and truly clean, without the chemicals.
